Okay I have a 3 and 5 year old who would both wake up many times at night and when I first used these as directed they helped them sleep right away but didn’t work well after that and made them get up more often and more fussy. I thought maybe the dosage was too much for them, making them overtired, and so I cut one gummy into 4 smaller pieces and gave them each only 1/4 of a gummy. The lower dose works so well for my children when they need it I could not be happier and bonus it saves money!! Take my advice and try to lower the dose and see if that works for your children as well. Side note: The 1/4 gummy even worked for me when I tried it! I truly hope this review will help someone else.

This product is a freaking miracle. My previously-precocious, out-of-control, no holds-bar-whirlwind-of-a-three year-old has been peacefully falling asleep without nary a whimper for the last two nights. Before this, it was lots of screaming, crying, getting out of bed, and generally wreaking havoc every night – usually after 9pm. Mind you, this was occurring with in a comfortable home with educated, happily-married parents who value structure and routine (definitely not an issue with poor parenting techniques, an inconsistent schedule, or a chaotic, unpredictable home life). My child is now happy and in a good mood most of the time at daycare. He absolutely loves the taste of his “gummy,” and his mom and dad feel like they can finally get some quiet time at night before bed.

I did not like these. One of my children had woken up with a serious headache about 3 hours after falling asleep each time I gave them one of these. My other child told he had night terrors & they just so happened to happen when I have him these before bed. Some children may handle these differently but both my children had terrible reactions to the synthetic melatonin.

Beware: Two out of three of my kids experienced and almost migraine strength headache, sensitive to light and noise, my youngest who is 6 was actually writhing in pain with it. They also had nausea and vomiting after taking these. They have never had headaches like that in their lives. It was awful. If you google Melotonin these are fairly common side effects. Please be careful.

My 3 old boy is extremely energetic/hyper. Especially at night when it’s time to calm down. We have a consistent routine, but he is constantly climbing, jumping, shouting, dancing, playing. Even when lying down, he is still awake for at least an hour to an hour and a half every night. Once he is asleep, he usually does very well throughout the night. Occasionally wakes up, maybe go to the bathroom, then back to sleep. It’s just the initial going to sleep part we wanted help with. We bought these Zarbee’s melatonin gummies with limited expectations. Based on another reviewer’s recommendation, we cut the gummy and gave him just half the first night about an hour before bedtime. At story time, I lay down in his bed to read. With a relaxed sigh, he put his head on my shoulder and said, “It’s nap time.” I couldn’t believe it! He actually lay there still and calmly looked at the book as I was reading. This never happens. After the book and prayer time, I gently left him sleepily lying there. He didn’t get up! I was sold and told my wife the amazing news. These things actually do what they say they do!

Here’s the kicker: a couple hours later, my boy started screaming. He wasn’t in pain, but was clearly upset. It took a while, but I was able to console him and he went back to sleep. Maybe a nightmare? Then, a couple hours later, more screaming. This happened a few times throughout the night. He went back to sleep each time, but this was not normal behavior. In the morning, he seemed pretty normal. Even though we only gave him half a gummy, we thought maybe the dosage was still too high for our little guy. The next night, we gave him just one fourth (!) of a gummy. Again, he went to sleep calmly and quickly. Nice! However, there was some more disturbance during the night. And this time, he also wet the bed. Not normally a big deal, only this was the first time he had wet the bed in several months. That was when my wife and I thought that – for our son – the cons outweighed the benefits. Idk if others have experienced these or similar side effects. I’m aware that I’m no scientist and my results may not be an accurate representation of the product’s effects, but I just wanted to share our experience for other inquiring parents.

On another note, I tried the gummies myself. They are delicious! I don’t doubt you will have any difficulty getting your kids to take these if you decide to do so.

My 4 year old, always a champion sleeper, has mesmerized me with how long it can take her to fall asleep. I mean… I’m a single mom and a high school teacher. When I tell you it’s a struggle for me to stay awake until 9 pm… it is not a exaggeration. I could literally fall asleep on my feet. Yet I have this child that takes 1-2 hours to fall asleep. Once she’s out she’s OUT for 10-12 hours but the falling asleep is an absolutely nightmare. Until this beautiful blue bottle came into our lives.

I ordered this with my fingers crossed but not hoping for much. Day one I skipped her nap and then gave it to her 30 min before bed. She was OUT and snoring before I was out of earshot. Day two we did not skip nap. I gave it to her after her bath and by the time I was reading our second book she was yawning and snuggling in. Could it be? I tucked her in and bingo… she’s sleeping after 10 minutes.

Pardon me while I go subscribe to this. I cannot go another night without it.

So I am an adult and one of these knocks me out in about 20 min and I have a great sleep. Occasionally I’ll quarter one and give a piece to one of my kids that struggles sleeping and that’s plenty for him (8.5yrs). Melatonin is not like regular medicine where more is better. Start with a 1/4 and you may be shocked with how well it works. Tastes like banana.
